Hi there! My name is Renca Dunn. I will be taking Alex’s place for today. Today is Tuesday, October 16. Ready for some top news?

11 Infant Bodies Found In Attic Of Former Funeral Home

Last Friday, in Detroit, Michigan, state investigators found 11 dead infant bodies in the ceiling of a former funeral home.

Police received an anonymous letter that explained where and how to find the bodies hidden inside an attic. The attic was hidden by the ceiling so they broke off the ceiling and found a drop down door that led to the attic.

Investigators went to the former Cantrell Funeral Home, and found the infant bodies, many less than one day old. They were very decomposed and the process of mummification, meaning steps of embalming, preserving, etc., seems to be unfinished.

The Detroit police chief said some of the fetuses may have been in the attic since October 2017. They led a police dog that is trained to identify the smell of dead bodies, called cadaver dog, through the building to make sure there were no more other hidden bodies.

The Cantrell Funeral Home was shut down back in April because state inspectors found disgusting conditions. Inspectors found several embalmed bodies held in a garage without refrigeration or preservation, and found two bodies covered in mold. The embalming room was very unsanitary.

The funeral home had been operating for more than 50 years until it was shut down in April.

The funeral home was bought and will be converted into a community center that provides social services, like free laundry and showers.

Twenty-Five People Hospitalized In Los Angeles Bus Crash

This recent Sunday in Los Angeles, California, a bus ran through the highway road divider and crashed into another car.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. local time. The driver of the bus was a 40 year old woman, she is in critical condition. It is not clear why she ran through the highway divider.

The bus was carrying 37 passengers from a church event. The bus hit a car, then caused other cars to crash on both sides of the freeway. Debris was strewn across both sides of the highway. The highway was shut down for a few hours.

Forty people were evaluated, 25 people were transported by ambulance to the hospital. Five are in serious condition.

5-Foot Python Falls from Ceiling

Something happened last week Friday in a city named Nanning located in China.  There was a bank staff meeting around 8:15am at a bank named China’s Industrial and Commercial Bank. In the video, there were people were standing in a circle for a meeting when all of the sudden a python, who was about 5 feet long, falls from the ceiling. Everybody ran off scared and the python slithered off and curled behind a couch. You can see the video from a link in the transcript.

Wildlife authorities came and took the python to the wildlife protection center for disposal. This is the second time that it has happened at that bank. Articles mentioned that it could be that someone put it there or the python found a way in because it was hunting for food. Well, I guess the python was not interested in opening a bank account.

San Francisco Company, JUST, Creates Slaughter-Free Chicken Nuggets

Have you heard  of slaughter-free meat before? This means we would not have to kill animals for eating meat.

A company in San Francisco created chicken nuggets, but not from where you think it comes from- the chicken body itself. The chicken nuggets were created from the cells from a chicken feather. This is not a vegetarian meat, but it is actually meat grown from a chicken, but the chicken is still alive. It takes about two days to produce that chicken nugget in a small bioreactor adding protein to make the cells multiply. Also, the protein is to help some kind of scaffold to give structure to the product and to help the meat grow. This kind of creation is not available everywhere now, but it will be in a lot of restaurant’s menu by the end of this year.

Josh Tetrick, founder of the company JUST, who is also the creator of that chicken nuggets, mentioned that this creation means you do not need to kill the animal. You can still have meat from meat without killing the animal. The reason behind this creation is because Josh and other people working with him want to stop the slaughter of animals and protect the environment from industrial factory farming. Josh feels that this creation also solves the problem of how to feed a crowded earth without destroying the planet. This meat creation is not a genetically-modified organism (GMO) and does not require any antibiotics to grow.

The United Nations mentioned that raising animals for food is one of the major causes of global warming and air and water pollution. Statistics show that 70 billion animals are slaughtered each year to feed 7 billion people. So, this creation is to help save the environment. Now, I am curious, would you eat that meat?

That’s all for today! See you tomorrow! Stay with the light.
