Milo Yiannopoulos — who many conservative Republicans love — is in big trouble after a news website released an older video interview of him where Milo discussed the idea of older men having sexual relationships with younger boys.
He said if a 13-year old boy is “sexually mature,” then it is not pedophilia to be sexually attracted to him. He seemed to frame pedophilia only as sexual attraction to children who were prepubescent. He said relationships between young boys and older men can be enriching.
The video interview caused the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) to cut him from his keynote speech. The CPAC is a major convention that is attracts top Republicans — President Trump, VP Pence, Mike Flynn, AG Jeff Sessions will present at the CPAC. Milo was supposed to give a speech but that’s not going to happen.
Milo also lost his book deal with Simon and Schuster — he was planning to release a book named “Dangerous.” He was promoting his book during during his college speeches.
Remember him from my previous story about the violent protests against his planned speech at the U of California Berkley — and when President Trump supported him on Twitter, threatening to withhold federal funds from the university?
[Trump’s Tweet: “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view - NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”]
Milo’s willingness to “make liberals mad” is why many conservatives, including Trump, liked him. But all that has changed after his comments about pedophilia — which understandably is too far for either a conservative or a liberal.
Milo works as a senior editor for BreitBart News (the same news site that President Trump’s Senior Advisor Stephen Bannon worked for). There is speculation that he might be fired from the website — (Update: He has resigned from BreitBart).
Milo posted a statement on his Facebook related to this: he said he is a gay man and a child abuse victim and said he is disgusted at adults who sexually abuse minors. He said the videos were deceptively edited. He later said he has gone though worse and that it won’t defeat him.
