Hitler's Phone Sold in Auction

February 21, 2017

Adolf Hitler’s red phone was sold at an auction yesterday for $243,000. Hitler used this phone to issue his commands during the last two years of World War II. It was recovered from Hitler’s bunker in 1945 and had been in a box in England since. The phone was originally black but for Hitler, it was painted red and it has Hitler’s name and a Nazi symbol of an eagle/swastika engraved on it.

The phone is considered the “most destructive weapon of all time” — because Hitler used it to order millions of people to be killed. Terrible. The person who sold the phone had it because his father was a British solider who was one of the first people to enter Hitler’s bunker after the Germans “lost” the war when the Soviet Union Red Army invaded the city.

The son, now 82 years old, said he was glad the phone is out of his hands, saying it felt like bad luck, and hopes it will be in a museum so people will be reminded of the horrors of war.
