Israel approved construction of 2,500 new housing units in settlements in West Bank, which Palestine dispute as their territory. It is the largest single approval of housing units since the last round of peace talks between Israel and Palestine broke down in 2014. It also comes after a recent U.N. Security Council resolution that says the settlement-building is illegal.
Then-president Obama’s administration was not in support of the settlement buildings, while Trump has always said he will support Israel. Trump had a phone call with the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Sunday. Trump also invited him to come to D.C. sometime in February.
The PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) said that Israel is exploiting the new American administration to increase its violations and is preventing the existence of a Palestinian state.
So the conflict between Israel and Palestine continues into another American administration.
